Correct hooping techniques might just be the most crucial aspect for creating a quality embroidery designs project. When I got my first embroidery machine I had no idea the way to hoop correctly. Back then there was not a lot of information online. I am the type individuals who isn’t likely to read a guide unless I encounter problems, Nevertheless I’ve just read through the handbook for my earliest embroidery machine and the guidance for hooping are obscure to say the least.
Correct hooping can seem quite challenging for starters, however with practice you might become very swift at getting the item into the hoop and producing superb embroidery.
First of all try and judge how tight your hoop should be to accommodate your project; you will definately get better at this with practice. Now cut a piece of stabelizer larger than the embroidery hoop, lay this on the lower hoop, now place the item you wish to embroidery over the stabelizer. In some instances you may need a few layers of stabelizer. Ensure that the fabric is nice and straight and even but don’t stretch it. Place top of the hoop over the top and push it into position. this could need a little pressure. Don’t pull the fabric once it is in the hoop can easily distort the fabric and alter the placement of your design, it is usually preferable to not tighten the screws once the project is in the hoop as this can pinch the fabric. If it is not properly adjusted take out the project and start again.
After the project is hooped effectively you will be able to run your finger on the fabric without it shifting or rippling, however when you have hooped it to tight it may “burn” the fabric, this cannot be repaired. Should you have not hooped correctly it can cause poor registration while stitching. You can get your design in one place and the outline elsewhere completely. A quality digitizer will make sure the stitching layout is appropriate so that outlines wind up where they should be but if bad hooping can cause a good embroidery designs to appear a mess.
When embroidering onto a garment that needs the hoop and stabelizer to be placed inside garment, like a tee-shirt or even the leg of jeans, an effective tip is to apply some masking tape to fasten the stabelizer on the underside of the hoop. This will just pop off whenever you push the upper hoop into place but you will save precious time needing to chase the stabelizer around in the garment.
