Next month I see my grandma. I enjoy seeing her, even if she has become a bit stubborn in her later years. I will not embarrass her by divulging her age, but let us just suppose she is a woman with exhaustively practiced wisdom.
I understand her daughter just brought by a litter of baby kittens for amusement. Of course, her daughter (my aunt) had to tolerate an extended lesson on bringing a new kitten. I am certain my grandmother would have liked to keep a couple of the baby kitties, but they are just too much for her to manage at this point.
I always discover something enigmatic at her house when I see her. Last time, I found many guides on penny stocks on her coffee table. My grandmother learning about trading penny stock? That is nuts. I wonder what I’ll encounter on her coffee table this time.
This week will make for a busy visit. We must install her fresh Emtek door knobs and air conditioner filters then fix her garden cart. I additionally have to bring her old pots and pans to charity as she recently bought a new collection of pots and pans to replace them. As a reward, she claims to also have purchased the best ice cream maker and the greatest of all the electic coffee makers. I appreciate it, but I also have to chuckle as she always claims to have or use only the greatest of this or that.
If everything goes well, she’ll use both to dish me some fabulous java in the morning and ice cream in the evening. That sounds like more than reward enough for my effort. I’m happy to help her out for nothing, but a little robust coffee and creamy ice cream does not hurt.
