When you are a fan of art then you are always on the look out for rising new artists as well as established experts. However, sometimes you find artists that you not only relate to on an art level but there is something else that captures your interest. This can be down to the personality of the artist for example, as artists such as Beryl Cook have had frequent public praise whilst being bashed by critics.

Rolf Harris is a painter that is loved by your average family. Mainly this can be put down to our love for his pop songs and TV programmes like Rolf’s Cartoon Club. Rolf Harris is also a prolific painter so much so that he has even been given the honour of producing a portrait of the Queen. Rolf’s personality comes over in everything he does, which is why he is such a popular celebrity. Because of this Rolf Harris prints have sold very well in the UK.

British artist David Shepherd paints landscapes, steam trains and wildlife. He is a big steam train enthusiast but is also known for his conservation work. He has even set up the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and was awarded an OBE for services to the conservation of animals. Many of artist David Shepherd prints raise awareness of conservation issues.

Sylvia Ji is a unique young artist from San Francisco. Sylvia Ji prints and paintings are provocative and often use a range of themes and styles that wouldn’t be out of place in a tattoo parlour. Unlike other artists Sylvia Ji has embraced the use of new social sites such as Facebook to market herself and her art work. This has made her seem increasingly popular, as people can talk to her and relate to her on a more personal level.
